Governor Patrick Morrisey, a coalition of West Virginia lawmakers, the State’s Secretary of Health, parents, and ICAN lead counsel, Aaron Siri, lay out their case for protecting religious exemptions to childhood vaccine mandates in West Virginia. Broadcast live from Beckley earlier today, Mr. Siri announces a new lawsuit on behalf of a local mother whose young child was denied school entry after the religious exemption she received from the State Department of Health was rejected by the public school. The historic lawsuit is supported by The Informed Consent Action Network (ICAN) and names as defendants the West Virginia Board of Education, the State Superintendent of Schools, and the Raleigh County Board of Education, all of whom have decided to ignore the Governor’s Executive Order which permits religious exemptions to the state’s vaccine mandate.
Watch as speakers underscore why West Virginia—one of only five states not providing a faith-based exemption—must honor its 2023 Equal Protection for Religion Act. From legal strategy to public health data, discover what this fight means for Mountaineer families, school policy, and the national medical freedom movement.
